Saudi Arabia elected as member of the UN Security Council for the first time in history

Saudi Ambassador to the United NationsAmbassador Abdullah bin Yahya Al Mouallimi confirmed in a statement that Saudi Arabia has been elected as non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. For the first time in the Kingdoms’s history, Saudi Arabia will participate in the Security Council as a non-permanent member for a period of 2 years, starting early 2014.

This membership defines the  absolute commitment of Saudi Arabia towards peace in the World and security in its land. Al-Mouallimi pointed out that the Kingdom has made a contribution of 2.12 billion dollars towards humanitarian causes undertaken by  the United Nations in the last eight years.
