The Riyadh Civil Defense Department called on citizens to take extra precaution and follow preventive measures to protect themselves from dangers that might arise from rain and weather changes in the coming days, official sources said. 
 
The Civil Defense authorities also warned residents against leaving their homes except for emergencies and to drive safely and slowly to avoid accidents due to intense rainfall accompanied by lightening and thunder that is expected in the coming days. 
 
Additionally, residents are advised to avoid walking in close proximity of electricity boxes, wires and trees. They are also urged to avoid using their cell phones at times of lightning and thunder to avoid electric shocks. 
 
Lastly, the Civil Defense warned residents against setting up tents in valleys during their camping trips and from crossing flooded valleys. Families have been urged to pay extra attention to their children who may be attracted to areas filled with water. It has also been advised to avoid swimming in lakes during heavy rains.
